Unfolding · the dance of Fosterer and Wanderer

Episodes

A video series on the Fosterer and Wanderer method: how people, teams and organisations change, and what it takes to foster that change instead of demanding it.

Each episode starts with a story, then shows what you can now see, why it works and what to practise, and ends with the Fosterer and the Wanderer in a short exchange. A prologue comes first, then four parts: the person, the team, the organisation, and how they renew themselves. Every episode has its text here, with the diagrams.

Part I · The Person

  1. 1.0 Overture: The Game and the Dance

A Wanderer on a bare stage floor who won't move, a Fosterer who tries every trick, and a coach who came without a plan. The overture: two roles, the four exchanges, perturbing and affirming, the five tenets.

  2. 1.0a The Methodical Minimum: For Those Who Lead

“The cool thing is: you just have to demand it from your people.” For those who lead: rule zero, the three zones, and five reversals of servant leadership, each beside its tenet.

  3. 1.1 Regard: A Stance with Heart

A man on a high-ropes course says: “You know, I don’t like you.” And he has been helping all day. The first exchange: observing, and showing yourself.

  4. 1.2 Exploration: Attention with Impact

The same question, asked twice in a role-play: the first time it grabs at thin air, the second time it opens a door. The second exchange: asking and revealing, and the difference between praise, affirmation and recognition.
